About Else

Else Streifer-Schröck smiling in front of one of her paintings

Else Streifer-Schröck is a Munich-based artist whose work has evolved over more than 40 years. Her paintings are defined by an intuitive and expressive visual language, ranging from her Schüttbilder (her famous pour paintings) to large-scale acrylics inspired by nature and travel. Her practice emerges from a free, direct, and deeply personal relationship with art.

Born in 1941 in the Chiemgau, she studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich from 1983 and graduated in 1990 as a master student of Prof. Jürgen Reipka. Since then she has shown her work in more than 18 solo exhibitions across Munich, Bavaria and Berlin, and received the Günther-Klinge-Preis (2014) and the Kunstpreis of Gräfelfing (2016).

Her work has been featured in the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Starnberger Merkur (read more about Else). Today she paints in her studio in the old Reismühle on the river Würm, surrounded by the nature that feeds her work, and shares her paintings with a growing audience on social media.
